The Plan of Chicago

Chicago is justifiably proud of Daniel Burnham's Plan of Chicago, an early twentieth century urban design. Though it was never realized, Burnham's Plan played a large part in gifting Chicago with the many parks we have, and in keeping the lakefront a public commons. A proponent of the City Beautiful movement he understood the power of civil life and civil society.

One of the longer term projects I am slowly developing for EbM is a Plan of Sculpture Garden Earth, based on the Plan of Chicago.

This image is from midway airport in Chicago, where a display of the Plan is currently on exhibit.
